FOTOFOYER Varanasi Dev Deepavali Photo Tour

Varanasi, the holy city of India, is also known by the name of Kashi and Benaras. Kashi, the city of Moksha for Hindus since centuries, is known for its fine-quality silks, ‘paan’ and Benares Hindu University and Avimukta of the ancient days, Varanasi is the most popular pilgrimage point for the Hindus. In Hinduism it is believed that those who die and are cremated here get an instant gateway to liberation from the cycle of births and re-births.

Considered as the abode of Lord Shiva, Varanasi is situated on the banks of River Ganges, which is believed to have the power of washing away all of one’s sins. As pundits here will tell you, whatever is sacrificed and chanted here or given in charity reaps its fruits thousand times more than those good deeds performed at other places because of the power of that place. It is believed that three nights of fasting in Varanasi city can reap you rewards of many thousands of lifetimes of asceticism!

The Ganga Ghats (river front) are the most popular pilgrimage spot of Varanasi and are centers of music and learning. The holy city has been a symbol of spiritualism, philosophy and mysticism for thousands of years and has produced great saints and personalities like Guatama Buddha, Mahavira, Kabir, Tulsi Das, Shankaracharaya, Ramanuja and Patanjali.

Dev Deepawali or Dev Deepawali in Varanasi is celebrated on Kartik Poornima, the full moon of the Hindu month of Kartik, fifteen days after Diwali. Dev Deepawali is not a standalone, in itself. It is celebrated on the last day of Ganga Mahotsav, which begins on Prabodhini Ekadashi (11th day of the Lunar month of Kartik) and ends in Dev Deepawali. View of ghats and temples are spectacular, it is worth beholding in Varanasi during Dev Deepawali. Every ghat and temple in the Holy City is alight with earthen ghee diyas. It is believed that the Gods descend to Varanasi on the auspicious occasion of Dev Deepawali to take a dip in the River Ganga (Ganges).

I had an opportunity to go on a photo trip to Vrindavan with Fotofoyer group during the Lathmar holi at Barsana, Nandgaon and Vrindavan. It was an amazing photography experience and I ended up making some amazing friends. The trip was well planned. However, the organizers did not hesitate to accommodate few small changes on our request. I managed to get some great shots from this trip. I would like to go for more trips with this group

Barsana -2016

As of now I have attended two photo tours with Fotofoyer. Its always nice to have Rajat and Sumit around when you are in the field. I really had great experience in both the tours, Barsana and Pushkar Phototour, this year. My recent experience with fotofoyer is on Pushkar, the tour was well organized and all the details were shared with me well before time. They guided me to the best locations and at the right time. I look forward to attend many tours with fotofoyer in future
All the best guys.
